Bake-at-Home: Organic Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Bake-at-Home: Organic Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Our baking mixes are a great way to bring the family together this weekend. We offer 13 different bake-at-home, shippable mixes that are accessible for a wide range of ages. A few months ago, we held an Instagram contest that allowed our supporters to win 2 free baking mixes to make in exchange for their detailed feedback on the baking process and final result. We received dozens of photos of parents cooking with their toddlers, women cooking with their mothers, and friends gathering together to create our cakes, muffins, cookies, and more. This month, we want to highlight our cult-favorite, Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies (TCC, known to the insiders).

Ingredients to Make Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies at Home

1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp (140 g) organic vegan butter

1/2 Tbsp (9 g) vanilla extract

That’s it! Everything else is included.

Health Benefits of Our TCC

Sesame Seeds + Tahini

Lignans within sesame seeds work to help prevent diseases and their biological activities have been shown to be therapeutic as well. Lignans are an antioxidant that also contains phytoestrogens (naturally occurring compounds and plant metabolites) which exert estrogenic activities. Lignans have been known to show a reduction of growth in hormone-sensitive cancer tumors such as the prostate, breast, and endometrium. Sesame lignans may alleviate postmenopausal syndrome as well.

Almond Flour

Almonds contain many vitamins and minerals, amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and fatty acids. Studies have shown the importance of consuming these ingredients via almonds to have beneficial effects on human health. Snacking on nuts regularly can contribute to health effects against cardiometabolic disease, hypertension, obesity, and diabetes. Researchers have confirmed the prebiotic capability of almonds. They have been known to regulate lipid and glucose levels providing assistance to regulate body weight and ward off cardiovascular diseases.

Chocolate (organic, coconut-sweetened chocolate chips)

Cacao/chocolate has active compounds, flavanols, and methylxanthines. Flavonols contain B2, B3, C1 procyanidins, catechin, and derivatives. In recent history, the antioxidant properties of said compounds have caught the public’s interest. Pulled directly from plants, antioxidants are known to prevent and delay certain types of cell damage in the body. Providing anti-inflammatory benefits as well, studies have also shown that cacao has reduced obesity-related inflammation.

Plant-Based Butter with Coconut Oil (we used Miyoko's brand)

Coconut oil has been known to exhibit antifungal and antimicrobial properties via the medium-chain fatty acids which help to expel an assortment of lipid-coated bacteria. Medium-chain fatty acids are more easily digested compared to long chains. Medium chains are also smaller in size which aids a higher cell permeability for immediate energy conversion instead of being stored as fat.
